There is a rapture on the lonely shore;
There is society, where none intrudes.
By the deep sea, and music in its roar:
I love not man the less, but Nature more...

Twins vs. Astros

On a seemingly perfect spring evening I find myself in the Twin Cities of Minnesota. After a long work week, it feels good to walk the streets of this unassumingly awesome town towards my favorite past time, a baseball game.

The perfect evening though quickly changes as thunderstorms from the west cause a rain delay. It gives me time to find and enjoy a helmet of garlic fries behind home plate.
The game eventually gets under way, and although the home team falls 5-4 to the Astros, any time spent watching baseball is time well spent.

National pastime

One can't help but feel joy under Friday Night Lights.
Fresh cut grass, chalk lines in the dirt,
beer and hot dogs and cotton candy vendors going up and down the stadium steps.
It doesn't really seem to matter what teams are playing, or the score of the ballgame.
It's more about all of us coming together and enjoying our nation's pastime.
Long live Baseball.

Yankees vs. Twins

It is a clear, cool Fall evening in Minnesota.
A perfect night for baseball with an old friend.
It is a classic David vs. Goliath match up.
The Yankee's at the top of their game, trying to win a penant.
The Twins are only playing for pride and self respect. No post season for them this year.
We sit and talk on row six, just past the third base line.
Three hours to catch up on life, laugh hard, vent about the frustrations of work, etc...

We see a possible Grand Slam, spectacular plays, a two out top of the ninth homerun that brings the Yankee's within one run of winning the game, the pressure mounting as the final out approaches the plate...strike one...strike two...strike three...Twins win! Twins win!

I love baseball.

Saturday night baseball

I have a goal, albeit not one with any strick adherence. I want to see a game in every stadium in the USA. Today I made it one step closer towards reaching that goal.
Coors Field, in downtown Denver, Colorado, is home to the Colorado Rockies. Baseball and summertime are a perfect combination of sights, sounds and senses. The smell of the newly cut grass. The anticipation of that first pitch, the aroma of beer, hot dogs, and cotton candy. It's all so vintage, so childlike and innocent.
In the early innings, clouds roll in from the Rocky mountains, and start to paint their picturesque sunset.
Through the fourth, fifth and sixth innings, people chat with friends, catching up on life events. Families laugh and strengthen bonds, and the sun sets over the evening.
Drama ensues before the seven inning stretch, and like it is being queued in an act from a play, the night sky delivers.
The magic of the game on a Saturday evening will always keep me going back for more.

So this weekend i went to the beautiful city of the other side of da Bay, Oakland. Very relaxing, and enjoyed a good ole national past time, baseball.

It was free hat day!

awesome pitch by the reliever. too bad it was in the 5th....

Good thing Utah doesn't have a MLB team, i'd never travel....

Yup, that's a strike buddy....

Could a weekend watching MLB be the best weekend ever?
