There is a rapture on the lonely shore;
There is society, where none intrudes.
By the deep sea, and music in its roar:
I love not man the less, but Nature more...

Turf Paradise

"So what are you doing for the weekend?"

"I'm thinking of going to the race track, as they are having camel races."

"Shut the front door! You're kidding, right?"

I'm finding a bevy of unique things to do here in the Valley of the Sun.
Turf Paradise is a horse track located in Central Phoenix. As I find a place to park on a Saturday afternoon, I hear the locals remark about the large crowds...

"It's because of the camels..."

I pay my two dollar entrance fee, and excitedly make my way to the track. It's a gorgeous Spring day. I wander around the area waiting for the first race to start, and stumble upon today's main attractions...
Back in 2009 on my first trip to Kenya, I had the chance to ride a camel at a children's birthday party that we accidentally crashed. But to see them actually race would be a whole new adventure.

I then see another pen with ostriches, and a third pen with this little animal known as Zonkey, a mixed breed of zebra and donkey.
Excited anticipation was high. The first horse race was about to begin, so I make my way down to the track, and ready myself for a day at the races.
